Taxis
In Santiago de Chile you can recognize taxis for being black with yellow roofs and orange patent. This transportation is relatively inexpensive and can be found all over Santiago, every time. There is no rate defined by destination but a meter is measuring the distances travelled and with accordingly display the value which needs to be paid. You will see the rates on the passenger’s windshield site. Make sure the meter always starts at $250, so you are paying a fair price.
In case you want to book a taxi in advance you can use radio taxis, which are safer and only slightly higher in prices, but they will pick up the passengers at the requested location. You can identify them by their orange-coloured patent.
